There’s been a lot of mixed messages regarding the potential transfer of Pepe Reina to Newcastle United from Napoli.

It all started when Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly made a tasteless joke at the expensive of the goalkeeper’s wife during a meal, which led to the pair storming out.

Since then, teaming up with Rafael Benitez once more has been a suggested possibility, even if everyone has tried to calm the situation down, including Reina’s agent, saying his client would stay in  the south of Italy until 2018.

However, Il Mattino on Friday report something that could suggest a departure really is on the former Liverpool goalkeeper’s mind, as he hasn’t registered any of his children at their usual school for next year, despite the deadline for doing so expiring two months ago.

If this is true, and Reina is thinking about moving, that means his decision was made before the spat with his club’s president.

Perhaps Il Mattino are getting ahead of themselves here, and reading into it a bit too much, but they seem pretty confident it’s a sign.
