Very interested in bringing Alvaro Morata back to Italy, it appears that AC Milan have now moved onto Andrea Belotti instead, with reports of a €70m bid being rejected by Torino.

This would suggest Manchester United have a clearer run to get the Spanish forward, yet recent comments from himself and his agent point towards him favouring a stay at Real Madrid if possible.

Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday report that the former Juventus striker is now José Mourinho’s number one target to strengthen his frontline, with the La Liga champions asking for around €70m for his services.

As things stand, the Italian newspaper believe the Red Devils have a 60% chance of landing the 25-year-old, while there is a 20% chance of him going to Milan, with the remaining 20% being him staying put in Madrid.

Moving onto Andrea Belotti, for whom Torino refuse to accept anything below his €100m release clause, Manchester United are only given a 20% chance, with a move to Milan rated at 40%, the same as him remaining in Turin an extra year.

With conflicting reports about Morata’s release clause (somewhere between €75m-€300m depending on the source), it seems the only way to get the Spaniard is by convincing Real Madrid, and if Zinedine Zidane wants to keep him as a squad option, it will all come down to the player.

And as we covered yesterday, in a World Cup year, is moving to a new league the best option for him?
