Jadon Sancho’s performances for Borussia Dortmund convinced Manchester United to pay €85m to secure his services in 2021 and that hasn’t paid off at all.
Erik ten Hag’s has left the winger out of his plans and he hasn’t featured since the end of August.
The 23-year-old is aiming for a move away from Manchester United in January and Bild say he could return to BVB, where he had an impressive spell for four years.
The Bundesliga side invested part of the fee from Sancho’s sale on Donyell Malen in 2021. He’s scored 24 goals and contributed 16 assists from 92 games for BVB, which includes five goals and two assists this season.
He’s managed by SEG, the same agency which represents Ten Hag and Rasmus Højlund. The agent’s ties with the coach and relationship with the Red Devils could help in a potential deal for Malen.
Bild state Manchester United’s interest in the Dutchman could lead to a ‘spectacular swap’ deal involving him and Sancho.
Dortmund invested €30m on Malen and Bild explain they are looking for the same figure to part ways with him. BVB could take Sancho on loan or buy him, possibly by adjusting the fee with Malen.
The outlet adds Sancho, who earns €14m per year, would have to take a pay cut if he wishes to return to the Signal Iduna Park.
Bild provide no information if Manchester United are in favour of the swap deal involving Sancho and Malen, and for now it appears to be their idea.
