Real Sociedad may be regretting their decision not to include a purchase option in the deal for West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd, with him currently their ‘most outstanding player’.
Estadio Deportivo cover the Moroccan defender today and how he’s made an instant impact since arriving on loan from West Ham at the end of the summer.
They say that Aguerd is currently the ‘most outstanding player’ for Real Sociedad at the beginning of the season, one of few positives in the last few games.
They’ve not started the season as expected after the summer, but he’s been impressing, something that has been ‘surprising’.
He’s quickly slotted in since his arrival from West Ham, helping to cover the departure of Robin Le Normand. His ‘great debut’ against Real Madrid showed he could be an ‘elite defender’ and he’s been starring ever since.
That’s even been the case when Real Sociedad have not been at their best and it seems everyone is delighted with the signing.
Estadio are even questioning the possibility of a permanent deal, which could be negotiated next summer. On that front, they’ll be regretting their decision to insist that a purchase clause was not included in the deal with West Ham.
The newspaper incorrectly believes that Aguerd’s contract with West Ham expires next summer so the defender can be signed on a free when his deal actually expires in June 2027 so that notion needs to be ruled out before it gains traction.
Either way, it seems the West Ham man has been impressing and not negotiating a chance to get him permanently may end up being regretted.
