After months of speculation, it appears that Manchester United will not be making a move for Juventus’ Alex Sandro this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The left-back emerged early in the transfer window as a potential target for José Mourinho’s side, although such a move would cost the Red Devils around €50m.

For a while, the price was said to have even gone down to €35-40m, with even Manchester City reportedly taking an interest as a potential rotation option for Benjamin Mendy, but that never took off either.

The situation seemed to be mostly Manchester United ‘looking but not touching’, and that’s probably how it’s going to stay.

Tuesday’s edition of the Italian newspaper explain that Juventus believe there’s an 80% chance of Alex Sandro now staying in Turin for the upcoming season, and he’ll do so without renewing his contract.

Barring an ‘offer they can’t refuse’, the Brazilian will now have to make do with crossing the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo next season, instead of Romelu Lukaku or Edinson Cavani.

Somehow, we’re sure he’ll survive.
