Luka Milivojevic has joined up with the Serbia squad ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Georgia, and like most of the national squad he’s been speaking to the media.

Given that he signed for Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window, the Serbian media were keen to ask about his big move to the Premier League, but Milivojevic has explained it was difficult to leave his former club Olympiakos.

The 25 year old had been with the Greek club since 2014 and built up a connection. Serbia’s RTS quote him as saying: “It’s all football, it was very hard for me to leave Olympiakos. I had no great desire to go, except in the case of very good offers. The club accepted the offer of Crystal Palace, I was pleased with the personal conditions and we agreed on the transfer.”

Given his fondness for his former club, the player wanted to correct some comments which were wrongly reported. Milivojevic had been quoted earlier this month as putting Palace on a par with Olympiakos and saying they could win the Greek league, he wanted to clear that up: “When I was asked to compare the former and current club, I said that Crystal Palace was in the top of the Greek championship. Also Olympiakos was among the top eight in the Premier League.”
