The rumours linking Darwin Núñez to Manchester United are not only coming from the English and Portuguese media anymore.

It’s now time for reports from Uruguay to say the Red Devils are actually interested in signing the Benfica star.

According to Traspasos, the Old Trafford side have turned into the ‘favourites’ to sign Núñez in the summer window.

It’s claimed that Manchester United are looking for a centre-forward who can replace Edinson Cavani in the squad, and the Benfica star ‘seems to be the elected’ one for that.

Even though the report doesn’t say how advanced the negotiations are, it’s claimed that the deal could be done for around €60m.

Núñez is having a great season for Benfica, with 21 goals and two assists in 26 appearances, where he’s protected by a release clause worth €150m, which means the Eagles have a huge margin to negotiate.

Recent reports from Portugal said Manchester United had been scouting the striker at the weekend, and the Lisbon side would demand at least €50m for his sale.
