Italian outlet Il Romanista today reports the first big job that AS Roma director Tiago Pinto is set to have next summer, which is to attend to José Mourinho’s request and get a midfielder signed.

The report claims the Giallorossi have been monitoring many names for the position, and end up listing five players who currently feature abroad and could move to the Serie A side.

The first in Il Romanista’s list is Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. They start with him because, according to their information, there’s already been ‘some contact’ between the two clubs in recent months.

It’s said Roma could take advantage of the ‘excellent relations’ they have with the Brazilian’s agent, boosted by his Italian partners, who’ve already been told of the Italian club’s interest in him.

It’s said that last summer, Aston Villa demanded €40m to let Douglas Luiz go. This time, with one year left in his contract, it’s said the price could drop to between €25-€30m.

The salary wouldn’t be a problem either, as the €3m net he earns at Villa Park per year is said to be ‘sustainable’.

What Roma should worry about is the competition, because according to Il Romanista, there’s a ‘particular’ interest from Arsenal in the Aston Villa player as well.
