Manchester United are yet to make a formal bid for Jadon Sancho but did propose a €70m offer as part of initial negotiations.

That’s according to Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger, who says that ‘payment structures’ are the issue both clubs are trying to resolve.

As you’ll be aware, Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United again this summer, following last years months-long saga that ultimately saw him remain at Borussia Dortmund.

That deal didn’t happen because the German side were resolute on their huge asking price, but that stance has now changed after COVID decimated their finances.

As a result, it’s felt a deal is there to be done for Manchester United this summer, and negotiations are already underway between both clubs.

Berger now provides clarification on those talks, explaining that despite not featuring for England against Croatia, Sancho will not be cheaper for Manchester United.

Dortmund want a ‘guaranteed sum’ of €90m for any deal to happen and the most United have offered is €70m, although that was not a ‘formal bid’.

Unlike reports elsewhere, add-ons are ‘not the main problem’, and it’s more about payment structures than anything else.

Dortmund want ‘short instalment payments’ over three to four years, while Manchester United would prefer it over five years.

That is currently the main sticking point in negotiations, and while nothing is imminent, a deal is ‘very likely’, with Berger stating that ‘all parties expect it’.
