As reported by the Portuguese media this morning, Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira is heading to Vitória de Setúbal on a loan deal.

Looking to give the player more minutes, José Mourinho has picked his home town club as a place for the 22-year-old to develop.

Now as outlet O Jogo reports the deal as well, they claim that Manchester United have added a clause in case they need Pereira back.

The loan contract will allow the Red Devils to call the goalkeeper back to the club during the January transfer window.

The exact same clause was added when Pereira was loaned out to Belenenses last season, and Manchester United ended up using it. At the time, the reason was to let Sam Johnstone leave on a loan as well.

The Portuguese press also reported today that Sporting were interested in signing Pereira, but couldn’t accept the Red Devils’ demands for the goalkeeper to be a regular starter.
