Adel Taarabt still sounds a little bitter about his departure from Fulham.
It was back in 2013 that the Moroccan star had a little spell at Craven Cottage, on loan from Queens Park Rangers. That only lasted six months, and he ended up going to AC Milan in the middle of that season.
As Taarabt was now interviewed by Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, he was asked to recall his move to the Serie A giants, and gave some details about how his departure from Fulham took place. The quotes come from Milan News.
The player claimed the change of managers was crucial for him to leave the Whites, and was surprised to have such a big chance to join the Italian club amid that situation.
“I was at Fulham. At the end of January, Felix Magath took Martin Jol’s place, so Berbatov and I ended up on the market. The best players, eh. He went to Monaco, while my agent called me to tell me we had a flight to Milan,” Taarabt told Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“I thought: ‘How is it possible that Fulham don’t want me and the Rossoneri do?’ It was impossible to refuse…”
While at Fulham, Taarabt had one goal and two assists in 16 appearances before switching clubs in the middle of the season. The midfielder played for Milan, Genoa and Benfica until joining AL-Nasr in 2022. At the age of 34, he still has a contract there running until the summer of 2025.
