Manchester United are ‘attentive’ to Goncalo Ramos’ performances at Benfica and could be ready to make a move in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Jornal de Noticias who say the Portuguese side are ‘considering the sale’ for offers above €40m.

Ramos was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer transfer window, with several sides thought to be keen on him.

He remained at Benfica and has started the season in fine form, with eight goals and six assists in 12 games in all competitions so far.

Those numbers have put him on the radar of several European clubs, including Manchester United, who are keeping an eye on his development according to Jornal de Noticias.

They report that United, alongside PSG, are the ‘most attentive’ to the striker and there are signs ‘they may tighten in January’.

That would not be an ideal time for Benfica to sell given the player’s influence, but JN knows that those in charge at the club will not close the door to a negotiation if they receive an offer above €40m.

Manchester United are ‘limited in negotiating capacity’ but are one of the interested clubs who have ‘given signs’ they would be able to move forward at this stage. In other words, they’d be happy to negotiate at that price.

PSG are also following him and held talks with the Eagles while discussing Julian Draxler in the summer transfer window, so there could be competition down the line.

For now, it seems Manchester United are simply showing an interest, and a willingness, to spend the money needed to secure Ramos’ signature.
