In the past 24 hours, the Colombian media has been full of stories regarding Manchester City’s interest in Millonarios winger Daniel Ruiz Rivera.

That’s because a story from Directv Sports said that Pep Guardiola’s side, along with Benfica and Red Bull Bragantino, sent scouts to watch the player in action this week.

It turns out that as the Portuguese press now covers this rumour, it’s said that those clubs were actually interested in another player.

Journalist Pedro Sepulveda comes up to dismiss Benfica’s interest in Daniel Ruiz to say the Eagles are keeping an eye on his teammate Carlos Andrés Gomez. He claims the 20-year-old is the one who’s ‘referenced’ by Manchester City and Red Bull Bragantino as well.

The report also states there are ‘no contacts between clubs’ for the transfer for now, even though he may be only referring to Benfica, and not the other two.

Perhaps that’s a good thing that Manchester City were not interested in Daniel Ruiz, since his performance against Junior Barranquilla was heavily criticised by the local media, with reports saying the scouts saw him on one of his ‘worst days’.

Gomez, who has 11 goals and five assists for Millonarios this season, may have had a better display for those who travelled to watch him.
