Manchester United tried signing Jude Bellingham before he joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020.

The 19-year-old’s decision to pick the Bundesliga side over the Red Devils has paid off as he has established himself in Germany.

This has seen the midfielder attract interest from the top European clubs and the list includes Manchester United.

That’s according to AS, who state that Erik ten Hag’s side are the ‘latest to join’ the chase for the England international. It’s claimed the Old Trafford club, along with a few Premier League sides and Real Madrid are ‘on the prowl for the new jewel of football’.

Manchester United are mentioned in a report that mainly focuses on Real Madrid’s interest in the teenager.

Recent claims in the English press have said BVB are trying to renew their star’s contract and insert a €150m buyout clause. If this happens, then the price will be astronomical for the Champions League winners.

The report states Los Blancos have a maximum cap of €100m for Bellingham, who is seen as an ideal successor for Luka Modrić.

Real Madrid have let the Dortmund player’s camp know that if he wants to join them, he should not sign a new deal with the German club.

Apart from the fee, the La Liga winners will face competition from Manchester United and a few other English clubs. It is early to predict where Bellingham will end up next, but the fight for his signature seems to have already kicked off.
