Injured during pre-season, Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri saw the chance of a move away from Old Trafford on loan slip through his fingers.

Instead, Erik ten Hag decided to keep the Uruguayan around, but the player has yet to be given a minute by the Dutch manager.

That didn’t stop him from getting called up to the Uruguay national team during the international break, which many saw as an opportunity for the winger to get some football under his belt.

However, few would have expected him to start their first game, which is against Iran, but the Manchester United forward has been placed in the starting line-up alongside Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez.

This certainly isn’t his first cap, as the 20-year-old already has six to his name, with this set to be his seventh, and it shows the faith Diego Alonso has in him, who was the one to give him his debut back in January in a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.

While he hasn’t found the back of the net for his country just yet, the Manchester United starlet has assisted his team three times, and will be looking to impact the game some more in the game against Iran, perhaps with a goal?
