The Portuguese media is certainly excited at seeing Matheus Nunes’ name being repeated in the English rumour mill, but they’re still not getting carried with it all.

Following reports this week saying Manchester United would like to have the midfielder as a replacement for Paul Pogba, newspaper A Bola comes up with a short update on the subject.

They claim that Sporting are still to receive any official bids for Nunes, and when that happens, the Lisbon side already know the ‘basis’ of negotiations.

It’s said the Lions will only ‘accept talking’ about a transfer with Manchester United or any others for a minimum of €40m or €45m, which is a little below the €60m release clause there is in his contract.

Matheus Nunes had, for a long time, been linked to Manchester City, and the fact that Manchester United are now named as contenders to land him makes the Portuguese media call it a ‘city derby’ for the midfielder.

Sporting are said to be aware that the player will attract bids this summer, and are getting prepared for talks that are about to come.
