Barcelona are making moves to snatch Malcom from the clutches of AS Roma.

On Monday, Roma confirmed they’d agreed a fee to sign the Brazilian from Bordeaux, but Catalonia may now be his destination.

The reason for Barca’s late interest is problems on the Willian track. Chelsea are asking more than the club are willing to pay and the Malcom opportunity is the alternative.

That could see Willian go elsewhere, with Mundo Deportivo stating Manchester United would be prepared to pay more.

Jose Mourinho’s club ‘can’ and ‘want to’ meet Chelsea’s €70m valuation, and it’s the manager said to be at the forefront of a potential transfer.

Willian has been linked to Manchester United for many months and with the Old Trafford club seemingly holding off on transfer business right now, it could be that they’re waiting to do a deal with Chelsea.

With the player turning 30 years of age on August 9th, it’s felt in Spain that Chelsea’s valuation is simply too big.

Barcelona haven’t been prepared to pay more than €50m for Willian, and Mundo Deportivo say the club has denied making three offers, despite claims in England they have.

They haven’t gone as far as €60m, but had been preparing an offer that would ‘never exceed €50m’ and this has been made clear to the player’s agents and Chelsea.

So it’s over to Manchester United.
