Last week, we covered a couple of stories from the Portuguese press saying Manchester City and West Ham were both interested in the Sporting youngster Tiago Djaló.

One of the stories even said that Pep Guardiola’s side had made a contract offer to the defender which would be much better than the one the Lions are doing for his renewal.

However, as a couple of local outlets talk about the situation today, it looks like things have turned around and Djalo may end up staying at Sporting.

Record and O Jogo both report that although he hadn’t played for the academy teams in a couple of months, he’s featured again this weekend. This is a sign that a happy ending could take place, although there’s no agreement yet.

Record still mentions that Manchester City and West Ham are both interested in the player, but the outlet makes it sound like he’s not close to a move.

This story sounds like a generic tussle between club and agent where the representative claims to have a better offer from a rich club, then ends up accepting a renewal offer.

We should see the end of the saga very soon.
