If some in the Spanish media were to be believed over the past week or so, Manchester City and other English clubs interested in Alexandre Lacazette are set for a disappointment. It’s been claimed the Lyon striker has already come to an agreement with Atletico Madrid and that would therefore be his summer destination.

Cadena Cope had even claimed Lacazette and his agent David Venditelli visited Atletico’s facilities ahead of a proposed summer move. Since then L’Equipe have contacted the agent to find out if the claims are true… and it turns out they’re not.

What the French newspaper did learn is interest in the Lyon striker is strong, with Manchester City one of the clubs named by L’Equipe after speaking with the player’s Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 07.15.12agent.

There doesn’t appear an obvious Manchester City need for Lacazette, unless Pep Guardiola plans a major shake-up in his striking department.

Nevertheless, should the club want him then the race hasn’t already been won by Atletico.

The player’s estimated price is €60m.
