It’s a big deal for the Portuguese media that two Sporting youngsters have been called up by their national teams this week.

Nuno Mendes and Pedro Porro will soon be having, respectively, the chances of representing Portugal and Spain, and that’s good news at the Lisbon side.

Now it turns out that indirectly, the call ups have something to do with Manchester City, who should be keeping an eye on both situations.

Newspaper Correio  da Manhã features a story in which they claim that the international break should raise the market value of both players.

Manchester City should first be keeping an eye on Pedro Porro, who’s loaned by them to Sporting until 2022. They’ve let the Lions have a buying option of only €8.5m, and as it already seemed low with the good season he’s having in Lisbon, it’s now becoming even clearer that the Lisbon side made a very good deal for the 21-year-old.

Pep Guardiola’s side should also be following the news regarding Nuno Mendes, as last week, reports from the Portuguese press said the Premier League club are interested in signing him.

Correio da Manhã brings some interesting information. Even though they don’t name the clubs who are after the player, they say that Sporting could negotiate him from €40m, despite his release clause of €70m.

Meanwhile, newspaper O Jogo recalls that Manchester City are one of the clubs who’ve been following the left-back, and should see him being more highly valued with the call-up.
