Manchester City are eyeing up a move for Universidad de Chile youngster Renato Huerta as they continue to scoop up talent from across the globe.

That’s according to Red Gol, who say Manchester City have UdC’s ‘new diamond’ in their sights, and could send him to Italy on loan.

They explain that Huerta has ‘pleasantly surprised’ coach Mauricio Pellegrino since his arrival at the club and, at 18 years of age, is already threatening to be a starter this season.

His good performances in recent friendlies was enough to ‘set alarms bells ringing’ at international level and Manchester City are one of those who are ‘after’ the young right winger.

They are willing to pay around €2m for the youngster and then send him to one of their ‘subsidiaries’ in Europe to finish his training. In this case it would be Palermo in Serie B.

Huerta already has a European passport, which will considerably speed up any potential transfer; something Manchester City are presumably aware of.

It’s now up to them to strike a deal with Universidad de Chile for the youngster and make him the latest to join the huge roster of talent now stockpiled at the Etihad and other City Group clubs.
