Fenerbahce manager Aykut Kocaman has told the Turkish media it’s looking unlikely Chelsea forward Diego Costa will be joining his club.

Costa has been linked with the Turkish giants, with claims today a deal was close for the Spain international. There have been reports Fenerbahce wanted Costa on loan for either six or twelve months.

CNN Turk have reported on comments Kocaman made to Turkish reporters today, when quizzed over the possible signing of the Chelsea player: “We are very close to adding another player to our squad. But very little time left right now. For Diego (Costa), we are close, but at the moment it’s very unlikely.”

Quite contradicting.

Today we covered claims from Turkey that Fenerbahce are closing in on the Chelsea outcast, and that a deal could be done before tomorrow’s Turkish transfer deadline. There were suggestions Costa could fly to Istanbul, ahead of a medical with the Turkish giants.

However, whilst these comments from Kocaman don’t rule out a deal with Chelsea, the earlier optimism is now turned to pessimism.
