Following the sacking of Graham Potter, Chelsea moved relatively swiftly to put a temporary plaster over the wound by appointing Frank Lampard until the end of the season.

That hasn’t stopped the Blues from looking for a new manager beyond that, however, with multiple reports from South America suggesting Marcelo Gallardo could be that man.

However, if Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna is to be believed, there is another man who could be open to the job, and he’s one Chelsea know well.

That man is José Mourinho, who has already managed at Stamford Bridge twice in his career, and seems ready to take on the challenge for a third time.

This was already reported a week or so ago, but it’s reiterated on Wednesday amid claims he has been approached from Saudi Arabia with a big pay package.

Aouna states that the Portuguese manager ‘isn’t interested’ by the money on offer from there, and he would only be interested in leaving AS Roma for ‘certain clubs’ including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

In fact, if the Blues were to make an offer, their former manager ‘will push to go there’.

Now, the ball is in Todd Boehly’s court, as Roma are reportedly ‘open’ to letting Mourinho go.
