Earlier on Monday, we relayed an article from the local press about Samir Nasri and his exciting performance against Athletic Bilbao despite Sevilla losing 3-1 to Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Estadio Deportivo were thrilled at how the player took his goal on Saturday, and his manager was among those full of praise for the Manchester City loanee in a press conference ahead of the Champions League clash against Lyon on Tuesday night, relayed by the same newspaper.

He said: “I’m happy Samir came out here because I suggested it. I think there are few players in the world capable of Samir’s ability. If he keeps playing at this level, he will surely have opportunities for his country.”

Unfortunately for Jorge Sampaoli, he seems to have fogotten that Didier Deschamps isn’t Samir Nasri’s biggest fan, having left the player out of his 2014 World Cup squad, which led to the player having some choice words for his national team’s manager.

The 29-year-old revealed he wouldn’t play for France ever again, ‘even if his dad was manager’, revealing he’d wanted to stop being called up after the 2012 Euros.

As things stand, Nasri’s last cap for France came against Ukraine on the 15th of November 2013 as they lost 2-0 in the World Cup qualifying 1st leg before winning 3-0 at home to secure a spot in Brazil.

We strongly believe it will stay that way, too.
