Wolverhampton Wanderers summer signing Joao Teixeira has been named in the EFL Team of the Week after his performance at the weekend. The midfielder joined the Championship side in the last window from Benfica.

EFL.com have today released their best eleven from all three EFL divisions, and the 22-year-old has made the cut from this weekend’s round of matches.

The youngster scored twice in Wolves 3-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday, and put in a good performance for his new club. Wolves win over Brentford puts them 8th in the Championship table, just one point off the play-off places.

Walter Zenga was installed as the new Wolves manager in the summer following the takeover at the club, and made Teixeria one of his signings in the last window.

The Italian spent heavily in the transfer window, with super-agent Jorge Mendes helping to bring in players from Portugal. Since arriving in England on loan for the season Teixeria has been a regular in Zenga’s side after failing to get games in Portugal. The young midfielder came through the Benfica youth system, but has yet to play a league game for the Portuguese champions.
