Manchester United are likely to miss out on signing Atlético Madrid starlet Marcos Denia.

That’s because, according to AS, Los Rojiblancos have secured the young forward’s future for the next three years.

It’s claimed the 16-year-old had ‘important offers’ to leave the La Liga side’s academy, and proposals came from Premier League clubs and Villarreal.

From England, the teenager had an offer from the Red Devils. According to the newspaper, Manchester United ‘sent an important proposal’ to the youngster’s representative, Juanma López.

The agent has seen his client continue at the Spanish capital club because Denia’s priority was to extend his stay with Atlético. In addition to this, the club has done everything to fend off interest from elsewhere and convince the attacker to continue with them.

AS state Denia signed a contract with Atlético on Wednesday, in the presence of his agent and his father, Santi Denia. The two represented the La Liga side during their playing career.

Denia junior represented Atlético’s Cadet A side, where he averaged one goal per game, before the season was suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis in March.
