Jorginho to Manchester City is so close, one can almost picture him holding the scarf over his head outside the Etihad on a lukewarm summer day in the north of England.

However, as close as it might be, it isn’t done yet, as both Napoli and the Premier League champions are yet to reach an agreement on the price, as explained by Il Mattino on Tuesday.

The Italian newspaper state Aurelio de Laurentiis is putting his foot down, asking for €55m in cash, while Manchester City’s bid currently stands at a little bit less than that, and that’s with bonuses counted in.

Despite this, the goal remains to get the deal over the line for all parties involved, and that’s what everyone will be working towards in the coming days as talks start once again.

Doing so would then allow Napoli to focus on getting his replacement in, while Manchester City can move onto their next transfer target, if there is one.

Judging by Jorginho’s agent’s comments on Monday, the optimism is still there, and everyone appears to believe the transfer will take place.

Eventually.
