Rest assured, Manchester City fans, the Jorginho deal hasn’t fallen through.

One of the hot deals of the summer, Pep Guardiola’s first move for the Italy international met Aurelio de Laurentiis’ stubbornness, with the Serie A side’s president returning it to sender, deeming it unsatisfying.

Reports of a second bid being made surfaced, although those haven’t been officially confirmed as of yet, but the Napoli midfielder’s agent doesn’t appear to be fretting too much about the whole thing, as he explained in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

He said: “We’re talking about a guy to whom a move to Manchester City represents the opportunity of a lifetime, but he wouldn’t be sad to stay at Napoli either. He’s happy and feeling good there. He might be displeased, however, because he’d be losing a great opportunity like Manchester City.”

As for whether a move to the Etihad was still on the cards, he continued: “Anything can happen. It’s still all open.”

That will be music to Manchester City fans’ ears, who might have started to worry about the lack of updates recently.

With no World Cup to feature in for Jorginho, there’s no real rush for this to be done quickly, so it’s only normal for the Cityzens to weigh up their options, and ensure they get the best deal possible.

The same, of course, applies to Napoli and Aurelio de Laurentiis, who will want to extract as much money out of the Premier League club as they can.

This could go on for a while yet.
