Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte suffered a knee injury in August and after spending over four months away from the pitch, he returned to action in January.
The centre-back featured in his side’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in February and it was his first Champions League appearance this season.
Pep Guardiola started the 25-year-old against the La Liga side, but a hamstring injury forced him to leave the pitch in the 33rd minute.
Laporte has given an interview to El Chiringuito de Jugones and Bernabéu Digital have relayed the comments made by the Frenchman.
Speaking about his side’s win over Real Madrid, he said: “Winning 1-2 at the Bernabéu was very important to us. We have a team [good enough] to win the Champions League, hopefully this year.”
Laporte in a vital figure in City’s back four. The English champions have never lost a game when the defender has featured this season.
Although his current deal at City is until 2025, Laporte was asked if he would be interested in signing for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Responding to that, he said: “No, now I am very happy at Manchester City.”
Football is on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The Premier League winners have also cancelled training sessions and urged their players to train individually at home.
Regarding the ongoing situation, Laporte said: “In England there are not as many measures as in Spain. Now I take the opportunity to give a few touches at home and play on the PlayStation.
“In the coming days there will be communications and meetings, but there is no date to return. If we don’t have symptoms, they don’t check us.”
