The Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool rumours aren’t going away. When it was first announced he’d be leaving Bayern Munich this summer, the Reds were the first club linked by the German media.

A lot of the claims felt like an assumption. It was thought Thiago would want to join Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t mind spending the €20-25m needed to convince Bayern Munich.

That figure quickly changed to €30m, and despite Liverpool continuing to be linked it felt somewhat forced.

Regardless of that, RMC now state that Thiago is ‘on the verge’ of signing for the Premier League champions. He’s said to have already reached an agreement with the club, presumably over the salary he’ll receive, and would be signing a four year contract.

Now it’s just a case of Liverpool agreeing a fee with Bayern Munich. The €30m seems too high for a player with a year left on his contract, and Bayern will likely have to come come down from that asking price.

Should the Reds interest be genuine, they’ll probably be looking at around €20m, so it could be a case of meeting in the middle.
