Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend had many reasons to be special, and one of them was the goal scored by Roberto Firmino.

Just last week, it had been revealed that the Brazilian would not renew his contract with the Reds, and would leave the club for free at the end of the season.

So for him to enter the match and score one of the goals in such a historic win for Liverpool, that certainly gave him an extra taste about that result.

After the game, ESPN Brasil reporter Natalie Gedra managed to speak to Fabinho about the Reds’ performance, and also had a question regarding Firmino’s future.

The journalist asked about how weird it’d be at Liverpool without the striker, and the midfielder admitted they’ll feel his departure, even though he’s hopeful his teammate can change his mind.

“Bobby is a very special guy. It’s great to have him as a teammate. He’s a guy that everyone likes him,” Fabinho told ESPN Brasil.

“It was really cool that he scored today, that he celebrated in that way. Everyone on the bench, on the field, celebrated with him, because he is a guy that everyone likes.”

“So he’s a guy who for me should stay at Liverpool forever, who was very important since my arrival. And I don’t want to talk too much about the future, let’s enjoy these last few months that we have of him here. I don’t know if the situation can still change, but we joke with him a little. But let’s enjoy it while we have this player with us because he is a very special guy.”

Roberto Firmino joined Liverpool on a €41m deal from Hoffenheim back in 2015. Since then, he has a record of 108 goals and 79 assists in 354 appearances for the club.

This season, though, he only has ten goals and five assists in 27 games, and by becoming a rotation player, that seems to be the reason why he wants out.
