Liverpool remain in the battle for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga, according to reports.

It’s now journalist Rudy Galetti who claims that the Reds are set to make a ‘concrete move’ for the 21-year-old’s transfer.

As widely known, the midfielder is protected by a €40m release clause, so that’s how much Liverpool would need to spend to guarantee the signing.

Galetti points out the Reds are definitely not alone in the race for the Spaniard, as the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Napoli and Real Madrid are others that have ‘shown interest’ in the player.

Last week, we saw reports from Spain claiming Liverpool ‘significantly raised’ their offer to Veiga, guaranteeing a ‘certain advantage’ over their rivals.

The big problem is that the battle for the player is believed to be ‘at its peak’, so there’s no assurance about who’s closest to winning the race.

The €40m release clause remains Veiga’s price tag, so even a club that arrives late could end up reaching an agreement with the youngster and taking him away for that fixed amount.

Convincing the youngster and his entourage would be the key here.
