On Monday evening, TuttoMercatoWeb ran an exclusive on their website that West Brom had dispatched a scout to go watch Fiorentina play against Torino, as Tony Pulis was said to be interested in La Viola’s Federico Chiesa, and he’s not the only one if Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nico Schira is to be believed.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist claimed that Liverpool were ‘very interested’ in the 19-year-old, and had also sent someone to keep an eye on his performance on Monday night in Florence.

The winger played the entire 90 minutes down the right-hand side, as both sides managed a 2-2 draw, and played a big part in his side’s first goal with some great determination leading to Saponara finding the back of the net.

If Jürgen Klopp is indeed looking at the young winger for a future transfer, it shows how little faith he has in Lazar Markovic, currently on loan at Hull after a rather poor first half of the season at Sporting CP.

Chiesa has caught the eye this season, slowly establishing himself as one of Paulo Sousa’s valuable first-team members, even at such a young age, and it won’t be long before other teams join Liverpool and West Brom in the queue for his services.

If it comes down to a decision between the two however, you would fancy Jürgen Klopp having the upper hand on his Birmingham-based counterpart.
