This week, reports from the English media claimed Roberto Firmino has a few options on the table in case he leaves Liverpool at the end of his contract next summer.

One of the alternatives for the 31-year-old was said to be São Paulo, a club he even passed through at the youth ranks.

It turns out this signing is so unrealistic that the rumour didn’t make much noise in Brazil, as the Tricolor is unlikely to afford a player coming from Liverpool.

And as journalist Jorge Nicola went after this story, he spoke to people at São Paulo who claimed there isn’t the ‘slightest possibility’ this signing could be made.

It’s said Firmino would certainly have offers from other European clubs, and the Tricolor wouldn’t have a chance of competing against them.

Nicola also adds that the player is a Corinthians fan, and in case he returns to Brazil, it’s a lot more likely he would join his favourite club instead of their rivals.

Despite all this rumours, it’s worth recalling that Firmino’s stay at Liverpool is still a possibility, as recent reports claimed the Reds are thinking about his contract extension.
