Manchester United are set to attempt the signing of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, according to reports today.

The information comes from France, where outlet Media Foot says the Red Devils have a ‘meeting planned’ with the player’s representatives.

It’s said Manchester United’s intention is ‘to see’ if they can match Skriniar’s financial requests.

The defender’s deal with Inter Milan expires at the end of the season, and for now, it’s unclear whether the Red Devils are looking to sign him for free or anticipating his move in January.

This contract situation makes Skriniar wanted by several European sides, including Paris Saint-Germain, even though the Nerazzurri still have given up on keeping him and should continue trying to extend his deal.

Manchester United, however, seem well positioned in that race. Media Foot writes that the Red Devils have ‘the financial means, history and a new project’ which could seduce the player, especially because he’s ‘eyeing’ a move to the Premier League, and the club will ‘try their luck’ to land him.

It’s said this battle for Skriniar has been going on for several months, but it seems this new meeting could bring some interesting developments to this story.
