Should Alberto Moreno finally leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window, when he’ll have one year left on his contract, it looks like Jurgen Klopp will have at least one option in mind to add to his left back choices.

SportBild have named Liverpool as one of a number of clubs keen on Augsburg’s Philipp Max, and with him being in the Bundesliga, the Klopp link always gets some added weight.

Max has 10 assists so far this season in 21 Bundesliga games. That puts him ahead of any Liverpool player for assists in the current campaign, and none of Klopp’s fullbacks get anywhere near it.

To be fair to the Liverpool squad, Lionel Messi has 10 assists this season, so what Max is doing is clearly exceptional.

Whilst the 24 year old hasn’t had a season like this before, his assists have been spread-out throughout the season, it’s not a freak purple patch, and his general performances have also been good.

Augsburg will want at least €30m in the summer if they’re to sell the player, and are protected by a contract lasting until June 2022.

RB Leipzig, both Manchester clubs, Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham are all also linked, but Liverpool arguably have more need than a few of those.
