On April 13th, we relayed news from France that OGC Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram’s performances have caught the attention of Liverpool.

Later that month, L’Equipe reported the Reds have a weak spot for the 22-year-old, who seems to be open to the idea of moving to Anfield.

Fast forward to June and Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna now provides a fresh update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Thuram.

He states the Reds have made initial contact to sign the France international but haven’t made an offer to the Ligue 1 side so far.

Nice, for their part, would like to keep the youngster at the club for one more season. They could change their stance if they receive an ‘explosive’ offer. Aouna doesn’t mention the fee needed to convince the French club.

Liverpool are on the verge of signing Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister. Aouna’s claim on Thuram indicates the Reds would be aiming to bring in another midfielder in the summer.

Operating in the middle of the pitch and as a defensive midfielder, Thuram managed two goals and eight assists from 48 games last season.
