Set to sell Wesley Fofana to Chelsea, Leicester City only have a few days to replace the centre-back, and they are looking in France.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who reveal on Tuesday that Jean-Clair Todibo is one of the options they are keeping an eye on.

Suspended for the game against Marseille, the defender’s presence in the Nice defence was missed, which is why the Ligue 1 side are trying to renew his contract.

They have been trying to do so ‘for a few months’ now, and the player’s side are ‘really waiting to see what they can put on the table’.

There is technically no rush to do so, since his current contract doesn’t expire until 2026, and this would purely be a reward for his performances and to stop him from being enticed elsewhere.

That’s exactly what Leicester seem to be trying to do, as they ‘came for information in the past few hours’, and ‘took the temperature over the past few days’, following the news that Fofana would be heading to Chelsea.

The two players have similar physiques, and while Todibo’s time at Barcelona is one that needs forgetting, the 22-year-old has relaunched his career successfully in the south of France.

So much so, in fact, that Leicester are now keen and see him as a potential successor to a player who quickly became a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium.
