Manchester United’s interest in Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio today gets an interesting update from Spanish outlet Cadena SER.

Their report starts by saying that unless a ‘last hour surprise’ takes place, the player is really staying at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

It’s claimed that the Spaniard had two chats with manager Carlo Ancelotti, and one of them was when Casemiro left for Manchester United.

There, the boss told the winger he’ll continue having the same, or more, use in the team, as he made 42 appearances last season.

Cadena SER then points out that the Red Devils were also those who were pushing to sign Asensio, and they reportedly made the strongest bid for the player this summer, putting €33m on the table.

That was apparently not enough to sign the 26-year-old, who’s nearly guaranteed to stay at the La Liga giants for one more year.

With Manchester United today confirming the €100m deal for Antony from Ajax, it seems they indeed had very different options in the market, with the Real Madrid player being one of them.
