Two days ago, Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano dismissed claims of Leicester City making a €34m bid to sign Nicolás González in the winter market. That has not stopped reports linking the forward to the Foxes.

On Thursday, Corriere Fiorentino stated the Premier League side have intensified talks with his agent but have not yet presented an official offer.

Sky Italia now explain Leicester are ‘serious’ about the 24-year-old and are insisting on signing him in January.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have already reached an agreement in principle with the Argentina international. They have made first contacts with Fiorentina and the next few days could be fundamental for the potential transfer.

It’s explained the Foxes will ‘try to close the gap’ between supply and demand with the Serie A side. In order to secure his services, Leicester would be ready to close the transfer with payments over two years instead of a four-year deferred payment.

Due to Leicester’s strong interest in the South American, Fiorentina don’t want to be left unprepared. They are already looking around to find possible targets to replace González, if he were to be sold in January.
