Leeds United were the first English club to be linked with a move for Ibai Gomez.

The Championship club wanted him in the summer and are expected to try again in the January window or even attempt to get him on a free transfer when his Alaves contract expires in June.

Now Leicester City are being pulled into the picture, and whilst Leeds have the advantage of Marcelo Bielsa, who Gomez has worked with previously, the Foxes are an established Premier League club… and former champions, of course.

AS report Leicester also want Gomez in the winter window, and it’s believed Alaves will listen to offers. They’ve been trying to get their player to sign a renewal and the longer there’s no new contract the more danger there is of a free transfer.

Alaves are ‘very pragmatic’, explains the Spanish newspaper, and whilst they want to keep Gomez, it’s stated they could listen to proposals during the January transfer window.

There’s also interest in Spain, but it would be expected that more money is on offer from England.
