Leeds United are standing firm in their desire not to sell Wilfried Gnonto this summer, with a loan deal at the end of the window a more likely move for him.

That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who reports that a loan for the forward could be finalised in the ‘in the last days’ of the summer window.

Gnonto has been heavily linked with a move away from Leeds throughout this summer after impressing in his first season in the Premier League despite their eventual relegation.

He has several suitors in the Premier League, such as Everton and Aston Villa, but so far Leeds have proven to be very resistant to a deal, despite the player even asking to be left out of the squad for an EFL Cup clash last night.

Di Marzio reports that stance remains the same, with those in charge ‘not open to the sale’ of Gnonto at this moment in time.

According to his information, if something were to be done with the player, it could be a loan in ‘the last few days’ of the window.

Perhaps the plan at Elland Road is to try and keep the player before the window closes and maybe bring in a replacement for him before either sanctioning a temporary exit, which has been a theme for them this summer, or keeping for life in the Championship.

Either way, it seems Gnonto’s Premier League suitors will have to wait to try and get him, with Leeds still holding everyone off at arm’s length.
