Bayern Munich have come forward to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after they allowed Yann Sommer to complete a move to Inter Milan.

The Bundesliga winners’ interest in the 28-year-old has been reported over the last 24-48 hours.

Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to explain the Bavarian club’s plan to secure the Chelsea player’s services.

He claims Bayern are working to sign the stopper on a loan deal and with a possible inclusion of an option to buy. The German champions are ‘convinced of his quality and character’ to become Sommer’s successor.

The journalist further states ‘talks are scheduled’ between Bayern and Chelsea to discuss the Spaniard’s loan transfer but doesn’t specify as to when this meeting is expected to take place.

A move to Bayern will see the goalkeeper reunite with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Kepa was a regular at Chelsea last season, making 39 appearances. He would no longer be the first-choice for the new season, especially after Mauricio Pochettino’s side signed his compatriot, Robert Sánchez, from Brighton & Hove Albion.
