Earlier on Thursday, we covered reports from the Italian media regarding Aston Villa’s interest in Nicoló Zaniolo.

It was stated Monchi was keen on signing the playmaker, and he himself was interested in a move to the Premier League and Villa Park.

Well, the first move has now been made by Aston Villa, as Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reveals the latest information on the matter.

Taking to Twitter, he claims that the an initial bid has arrived from the Premier League club, with it being a loan with an option to buy.

Aston Villa are reportedly ready to put forward €3m to monetise the temporary deal, but the total package ‘exceeds’ €30m, which has been believed to be the asking price.

That means there’s an option to buy in there, although it isn’t made clear just yet whether it would be compulsory or simply something they can do if they want.

Either way, it was stated previously that clubs would need to trigger the release clause of the player to get him, and this isn’t going to do that.

We now have to wait and see whether more is needed or Galatasaray are open to such a deal, but our gut feeling is they won’t be.

Still, it’s a starting point in talks, and Monchi can always go on from there.
