The idea of Liverpool signing Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord this summer is gaining strength in the Netherlands, with a growing belief it is ‘time for a transfer’.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who believe that the player could be gearing up for a move to Liverpool alongside Arne Slot.
The newspaper explains that Geertruida was ‘emphatically linked’ with a move to Liverpool and for most, that was not a surprising thing.
While it would make sense for Slot to take the player with him to Anfield there is also a belief that the time has come for the defender to leave the Netherlands and make the move up the football ladder.
The fact he was at the London Stadium to watch Liverpool vs West Ham over the weekend was not because a transfer has already been worked out, though. In fact, Liverpool have not yet discussed him.
However, the Dutch international is a serious option for a number of clubs this summer and Liverpool are likely to be one of them, once the deal for Slot has been concluded.
Indeed, the pair could enjoy a goodbye match against Excelsior on May 19th, at least in terms of a goodbye in front of their home crowd.
Either way, there is a growing belief the defender will be on his way this year and Liverpool is a likely destination now Slot is heading to Merseyside.
