The fact that Aston Villa are interested in Nicolo Zaniolo, currently at Galatasaray in Turkey, is already well-known.

Many outlets have covered this, but that’s not what’s interesting in the latest report from Calciomercato on the matter.

No, what’s interesting is that the player himself is keen on the move to Aston Villa, despite interest from Juventus in his services.

The Italian website have an article on the matter on Thursday, and explain that while the Villans are in the process of selling Aaron Ramsey to Burnley for €20m, there is work being done on Zaniolo.

The former AS Roma star did turn down the chance to go to Bournemouth last January and went to Turkey instead, but Aston Villa are a different kettle of fish, as is explained by Calciomercato.

They state that they have Conference League football to offer, unlike Juventus, and have shown a lot of ambition in the transfer window so far with the arrivals of Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Moussa Diaby.

Monchi has always liked the Italy international, and Unai Emery has been ‘called upon to relaunch the career’ of the player, who is ‘ready to answer the call’ of the Premier League.

TuttoMercatoWeb also have a bit on the interest, and recall the Spanish director of football has ‘respected’ Zaniolo since his time in Rome.

Galatasaray ‘continue to ask’ for the release clause of over €30m to be triggered, but considering the spending already undergone at Villa Park, a bit more isn’t likely to be too painful.
