Paris Saint Germain are trying to sign Pascal Struijk from Leeds United, according to claims from France.

L’Equipe today writes that the Ligue 1 side have been targeting the defender for ‘several weeks’, and could soon move forward with an offer.

The story highlights that PSG’s negotiations with Leeds haven’t been easy, as the French club have been struggling to meet the Whites’ asking price.

That’s the reason why they’ve just signed Lucas Beraldo from São Paulo, buying the centre-back for €20m.

The move for the Brazilian doesn’t cancel the chase for Struijk, though, as that’s seen as a ‘parallel’ transfer, although that may delay their chase for a few months.

The story doesn’t make clear how much Leeds have been demanding for their player. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €18m, and is protected with a long contract until 2027.

Struijk is obviously a very important player for the Whites, starting in all the Championship games he was available for, and even captaining the club for the past couple of months. So it makes sense they’ll play hard to avoid losing him in January.
