Leeds United are ‘expected’ to start new contacts with Juventus for midfielder Weston McKennie after reaching an agreement with the player over a move to Elland Road.

That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who says Leeds have ‘reached a general understanding’ with the American midfielder.

He’s been long linked with a move away from Juventus, where he has struggled to impress manager Max Allegri following a permanent move from Schalke.

Leeds have emerged as suitors this month and several reports today have made it clear they are pushing to try and get him in before the end of the window.

Galetti confirms as much, stating that ‘new contact’ is expected to take place between Juventus and Leeds over a potential deal.

The Whites have reached a general understanding with the player over a contract  but are yet to manage that with Juventus.

However, the ‘sensation’ from both clubs in that for a figure around €25m a deal can be ‘positively closed’ for the player. In other words, Juventus are more than happy to sell if Leeds offer the money they want.

It is now up to Victor Orta and his team to do just that, with one major step, an agreement with the player, already taken.
