Aston Villa and Newcastle United are among the clubs in the picture to sign the Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.

The 25-year-old’s deal expires next June and as it stands, the January window will be the German club’s last chance to cash in from his sale.

A week ago, Bild explained Aston Villa and Newcastle stand in a chance to sign the striker for €10m in the winter market because his transfer is possible in the same window.

The Premier League duo are joined by Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and a few other sides in the chase for the player’s signature.

According to FcInterNews, Bayern have offered the France international a five-year deal worth €6m net per season to join them for free next summer. Inter and Atlético Madrid could put up a maximum of €4m per year plus bonuses.

Aston Villa and Newcastle are mentioned as the report insists the two English clubs could match Bayern, or make a proposal that comes close to the Bavarian club’s offer. It is too soon to tell where Thuram will move next because he hasn’t accepted anything so far.

Over at Calciomercato, they explain Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met one of the player’s agents in Qatar and presented his side’s project.

Thuram is flattered by the Nerazzurri’s interest, but he has not yet made a decision on his future. In addition to this, the Frenchman is ‘evaluating’ various proposals he has received from the Premier League.

Although Aston Villa and Newcastle are named as Thuram’s English suitors, the outlet doesn’t provide details of the Premier League sides that have made offers to the frontman.

Thuram has starred for Gladbach this season, managing 13 goals and four assists from 17 matches.
