Juergen Elitim is one of the many South Americans who, despite being signed by Watford in recent years, couldn’t really succeed with the Hornets.

The midfielder joined the Vicarage Road side back in 2018, on a move from Granada.

Since then, he has had loans at Marbella, Ponferradina, Deportivo La Coruña and now Racing Santander.

Elitim was this week interviewed by El Diario Montañés, and the funny thing is that, after spending so much time away from Watford, the fact he still belongs to the Hornets isn’t even part of the conversation.

The 23-year-old mostly talked about his move to Racing Santander this summer, claiming he’s glad to have joined the Spanish side in the last transfer window.

“I’m happy. I had a quiet summer. We arrived early in the city and the adaptation was quite fast. The Sardinero is a spectacle for me. I’m enjoying it to the maximum.”

Now with all those loans in the past few years, Elitim admits it’s a little tough to find a good sequence when changing clubs so often.

“That’s what I want. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to have continuity in one place. It’s not easy to change city, team, teammates and coach year after year. It’s an advantage to spend years in the same place.”

Despite the many years belonging to Watford, Elitim was never given the chance to make his debut for the Hornets.

His contract with the club runs until 2023, so perhaps there’s still time to convince the club he deserves an opportunity.
